This Charter aims to formalize the ethical rules that each member agrees to uphold, to develop a collective identity that motivates and commits us.
INTEGRITY
We commit to protecting each member's freedom of speech while respecting the organization's rules. Membership in Women Overseas must never serve personal interests against the group's purpose. We aim to stand in solidarity with women of all beliefs and backgrounds to fight against all forms of discrimination.
SINCERITY
We pledge to stay united and mobilized to create conditions that change attitudes about domination, the harm done to women, macho behaviors, and traditional stereotypes that limit women to being just housewives and mothers. Women should decide their life choices. We commit to defending women's freedom to choose their lifestyle, balancing personal and professional life and their right to financial independence for their freedom. We promise to promote and support women's intellectual, social, and economic growth, helping them to fully participate in society independently. We focus on advancing women's rights, respect, and dignity. We vow to speak out, condemn, fight, and rally to voice women's concerns, preserve achieved rights, and oppose any steps back that might worsen wage inequality, weaken social protection, or hinder professional advancement limiting leadership roles. We commit to working together for women's causes. No individual action should be taken in the organization's name without prior approval from its leadership.
RESPECT
We commit to sharing experiences respectfully, valuing each other's journeys without judgment. We mutually promise to listen and accept different views. Our aim is to implement joint actions. We disapprove of and avoid all verbal violence. We are courteous in discussions, avoiding discriminatory judgments, and providing only constructive criticism. Our goal with this approach is to encourage dialogue, enabling idea exchanges to build a common foundation for our actions.
We commit to living by our motto: "Committed and United."
